About

Voteaire

Voteaire is an easy to use platform that allows anyone to create an on-chain vote in the Cardano ecosystem. All ballots and votes are stored publicly on-chain for verifiability, and the data specification has been published in an open source repository for everyone to see.

Our focus is on usability, and on building something that non-technical users can use to create ballots, or to vote just by connecting their wallet and submitting a transaction.

The initial launch will be released with three different voting types:

  1. A ‘Simple’ vote, which allows anyone to vote, and uses the balance of ADA in your wallet on a specified snapshot date to determine your voting weight.
  2. A ‘Delegated’ vote, which is limited to users delegated to a particular stake pool, who’s vote weight will be dependent on the stake they have delegated to the pool on the snapshot date.
  3. A ‘PolicyID’ vote, which is limited to token holders of a particular policy ID. It supports both fungible and non-fungible tokens, and weights the votes according to the number of tokens held in the voter’s wallet.

This tool will have a far-reaching impact on the Cardano community. Projects such as DAOs, NFT projects, and utility-token projects will now be free to poll their community holders with a true, on-chain weighted vote instead of needing to rely on third party centralised solutions like Discord. Stake pool operators will also be able to poll their delegators to make decisions about the direction of their pool, such as changing the fees, or creating additional pools. This is just the beginning.
